Protecting identification while wrapping long goods
Inspect the surface before wrapping and keep dirt from being trapped between film and the product. Support long goods appropriately and apply even coverage without hiding required identification. Secure ends so they do not snag during handling. Confirm that lifting points remain accessible and follow the approved handling method for the goods.
Arrange pipes or coils on appropriate supports before applying film. Use the agreed separators where surfaces could rub against each other. Keep exposed ends and projections from puncturing the wrap, and follow the approved method for securing the goods.
Place identification where it remains readable during warehouse checks and dispatch. If a mark will be viewed through film, test it on the finished pack. Avoid trapping loose labels or covers where they can rub against a sensitive surface.
Inspect the lower support areas and the secured film ends after the first movement. Check that the wrap has not shifted into a handling point. Record the accepted arrangement with photographs, particularly when the pack shape varies between products.
