Inspecting a newly wrapped forage bale

Follow the wrapper and agricultural process instructions. Inspect the bale surface and remove protrusions that can puncture film. After wrapping, check coverage, tails and visible tears before moving the bale with suitable equipment. Keep a record of film batch and wrapper settings. Handling methods should protect the wrap throughout movement and storage.

Use a consistent inspection route around each sample bale so the ends, edges and lower contact areas are considered. Look for loose tails, incomplete coverage and damage near protruding material. Follow site rules and keep clear of moving equipment.

Check the bale again after its first movement. The handling contact area may reveal a problem that was not visible immediately after wrapping. Note where the damage occurs and review the handling method with the responsible operator.

Keep a simple record linking the bale group to film batch, wrapper settings and any repairs. If a recurring defect appears, this makes it easier to identify the affected work and compare it with a successfully wrapped group.
