Abrasion and loose woven wraps on coils

Inspect where wear occurs: the ground contact area, lifting points, coil edges or fastening ends. Check whether the wrap is loose or whether the protection material is incompatible with the handling route. Remove damaged wrap from reuse and review corner protection or storage supports. Keep a sample to help identify the source of abrasion.

Compare damage on the wrap with the surface beneath it. Wear concentrated at a support suggests a different cause from loosening around the entire coil. Photograph the coil before removing the covering so the contact locations remain clear.

Check the fastening and overlap when the wrap moves during handling. A secure end cannot compensate for an unsuitable pattern around the coil’s shape. Review the approved method and inspect whether the coil itself changes position within its support.

For returnable applications, separate worn material from stock intended for reuse and apply the agreed inspection rule. Document the damage pattern and corrective action. Assess the next wrapped coils after the same handling route before accepting the revised arrangement.

Confirm your specification

Specify width, thickness, roll length or net material weight, core size, colour, packing, quantity and destination. Final dimensions and performance are confirmed by the sample and order.
